Damage Control: Protect your skin from harsh environmental factors that can cause aging by
using a quality natural based sun protection cream on the face and body daily.
Spa Facials: We're watching our budgets more these days but that doesn't mean you have to avoid going to your local spa for a
professional facials. There are numerous benefits from receiving a proper
facial (once per month if possible). To indulge on a budget ask your spa if
they offer an express spa facial. These are still very effective and much less
costly than a full 90minute facial. If you plan to get a facial regularly
through the year ask your spa if they would consider offering you a special
rate for repeat treatment bookings or a membership rate.
Omega Fatty Acids: These help to repair cells, nourish and
revitalize the skin from the inside out. Include sources of Omega 3, 6 and 9
fatty acids in your diet through foods such as fish, flax seed powder and
walnuts and look for sources of these omega’s in skin care products. Ingredients
such as Acai Berry contain beneficial amounts of fatty acids that can help
renew aging skin.
Dry Brush: As a daily ritual this can keep skin looking smooth
while helping the body to eliminate excess fluid and toxins. Dry brushing is
a technique using a soft to medium bristle body brush on dry skin (using no
cream or lotion) ideally before your shower. The brushing is done using upward
strokes covering legs, arms and including gentle circular (clockwise) strokes
around the stomach area which can help with digestion.
Internal Balance: Incorporating a diet that focuses on reducing the amount of acid foods you eat can help to promote better internal health and better skin. Also including green tea, warm water with lemon and fluids that are free of synthetic and added sugars can also be very beneficial in helping to remove toxins from the system. Start your day with a healthy shake containing whey protein powder, flax seed powder, fresh or frozen berries combined with skim or soy milk. A great way to get a boost of healthy energy and it will do wonders for your skin!
